Gastronomia Italiana:: Dezio Reviewed!

Dezio is located in a quiet lane of Kalyani Nagar, Pune, which is a Non vegetarian speciality restaurant started by Chef Dario Dezio from Sicily. The four storey restaurant is owned and managed by Chef and his beautiful wife Rebecca.
Ambience:: Each floor is kept for a different taste. Rooftop is quiet, calm, chilled-out place where you can enjoy a cuppa with beautiful sunset colors.
Then there is another floor for fine-dining with white linens and tastefully chosen cutleries. You can enjoy mild, melodious music in the background while having any meal.
Another step down will take you to the private party area, and then there is outdoor section under huge trees with canopies. Wood-fired oven is also located here.
Decor is endearing with classy lamps, lightings, elegant furniture, and paintings. Paintings are so beautiful and huge to ignore.
Food:: We were served Veg and Non-veg Rooftop Tapas to go with the drinks. Veg tapas had...
  • Crunchy Potato Skins stuffed with vegetables and herbs - stuffing was crisp and found the skins bit oily It could have been air-fryed! (3/5)
  • Tortillas wrapped beans with bell peppers and cream cheese, - basic rolls (3/5)
  • Champigonon Mushrooms stuffed with cheese and herbs,- Nicely cooked (3.5/5)
  • Mini Veg Burger with crunchy potato skins,- Patty was fresh , crispy with lot of vegetables. Burger itself was a bit dry; ketchup could have been used. (3/5)
  • Flaky pastry stuffed with exotic vegetables and parmesan with honey mustard dip,(3/5)
  • Crostini Catanesi with roasted vegetables and cheese.- (3/5)

Non Veg Platter::
Being a non-alcoholic, mocktails were served on request. We had Fruit Punch and Lemon Mint Fizz. Mocktails were made perfectly.

After enjoying the rooftop, five course meal was waiting for us! A glimpse of the meal is here. Being a vegetarian, only veg dishes are reviewed.

Fresh Bread Basket with Butter::

Antipasti/Starters::
Veg - Carpaccio Di Bietola - A beautiful red colored dish with freshly sliced beetroot and homemade cheese, rucola was surely a healthy choice. Caramelized Walnuts were added for its crunchiness and drizzle of balsamic dressing was adding the flavour. Good for starters and for all those calorie watchers. (3/5)
Non Veg- Gamberi Incazzati - Pan seared prawns with white whine, garlic and chilli flakes, finished with tomato sauce and parsley.
Pizze/Pizzas::
Veg - Siciliano - What could be better to have a pizza from an Italian chef...:) Freshly made wood-fired pizza topped with spicy tomato sauce, mozzarella, sundried tomatoes, garlic and bell peppers. It had generous spread of tomato ketchup which was making it easy to eat. One of the best pizzas I have ever had. A must try! (4/5)
Non Veg - Caltagirone - Wood-fired pizza with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella, parma ham, rucola and parmesan cheese.
Paste/Risotti::
Veg - Gnocchi Al Basilico - Gnocchi are basically thick dough dumplings made with semolina, wheat flour, eggs, cheese, potato, bread crumbs or similar things. Gnocchi served to us had nice color because of basil, broccoli, olives, It also had potatoes, parmesan, tomato and sundried tomatoes. It tasted really nice, very soft but I found it bit sticky may be because of potatoes! The cream/ sauce had balanced flavours. (3.5/5)
Non Veg - Home made gnocchi with potato and carrot with back, cherry, tomato, basil and sage cream sauce.
Veg - Risotto Al Funghi - A slowly cooked creamy rice dish with mushrooms, wine and cheese was rich and served hot. It was delectable and could be eaten occasionally. (3.5/5)
Secondi/Main Course::
Veg - Peperoni Farciti - Baked Bell Peppers preparation with exotic vegetables, herbs, cheese served with steamed broccoli. It was average dish for me. It could have been more spicy and flavourful. (3/5)
Non Veg - La Tagliata - Grilled tenderloin strips served on a bed of rucola topped with parmesan cheese, extra virgin olive oil and a balsamic reduction, served with cherry tomatoes.
Dolci/ Desserts::
Most awaited part of the meal...who wanna miss this? :) We were served tarts in 3 flavours. Tarts were soft and freshly made.

Yoghurt Tart - A bit different preparation with real creamy flavour of yoghurt. (4/5)
Lemon Tart - Average tart with tangy flavour. Sour is not my taste, so avoided!
Salted Caramel Chocolate - Nobody can miss on chocolate. It looked and tasted amazing. (4/5)
Tiramisu - Rich, creamy, cake with lots of coffee taste. Made by perfection, Tiramisu is bit bitter in taste and not liked by many! (3/5)
Service:: Staff was on the toes and ready to help. Well trained and educated staff add ons to the overall experience.(4/5)

Recommendations::
  • Sicilian Pizza
  • Risotto Al Funghi
  • Yoghurt and Chocolate Tart

  1. Nice review. I love risotto and I know I'd enjoy many of the dishes. Novel idea, having three floors, presenting different types of food. I enjoy trying wine flights! Wish more places offered them. Great photos.
