Double Roti – Awesomeness, between breads — Reviewed!

Bread is called Double Roti in hindi as it swells its size upto double to its original size after baking. Well in this case, Double Roti is the place, a dream and a passion of young guys who wanted to bring the world food to India in the basic steel dishes or mason jars. The idea is to present the 'firangi' food in 'desi style'. Double Roti now comes to ‪Pune‬, after serving a combination of Indian and international snack foods to Gurgaon and Chennai.
Located on the ground floor of Lunkad Sky Max, on the corner of Dutt Mandir Chowk, Viman Nagar this place will surely catch your eyes. Parking is not an issue as the building has underground one and two wheelers can be parked outside also as lot of open space is there. The place is owned and managed by four partners – Japtej, Nikesh, Vimal and Vikram, who all share a common passion of food.

Double Roti has opened their doors for public from early March 2016. Nice chic look with quirky interiors, sardar humors and kitsch products. The restaurant walls are adorned with the story of making this dream of food place a reality into Double Roti.
You would be amazed by the use of daily things used as a decorative like egg whisker in the form of lamps or toy truck as a cutlery and paper napkin holder! The Cafe is full of positive vibes, vibrant colors and energetic staff. The menu is printed like handwritten and gives a feel of a notebook on the board. Quite unique!

Food varies from Eggs with Ande ka Funda, Breakfast Pizzaz and Doughwiches under Sadda Haq. Pancakes, Waffles, French Toast, Yoghurt for breakfast. with a combination of Fresh fruit juices, Tea or Coffee.

We started with Sunshine, a freshly squeezed juice of Carrot, Orange, Ginger and mint — a detoxifying one.

Oreo O Oreo Shake was one of the best, though not much Oreo lover, the shake was impressive. Served into a small pot and garnished with mint, the it was soothing and could not be stopped post a sip. We went for another round of it.

Killer Strawberry and Banana shake is yet another thick shake with 'Oh-so' delicious flavour of strawberry and banana,
Have you every thought of Gherkins be tasty? They did it! Yes, Crumb fried gherkins with dehydrated salsa is not to be missed. Crunchy and fried till perfection. Highly recommended!

Corn Fusion Quesadillas with corn, beans, olives, jalapenos and mushrooms was another attraction.

Sour Cream and Salsa Fries made my evening! Nice, crisp fries topped with sour cream with salsa was a great combo. Served in Aluminium bread loaf pan fries were vanished within minutes!

Oh Fig is a healthy salad, I ate it at the time of soft launch and must say it was refreshing. The sweetness of Fresh Figs, roasted beet, bell pepper, feta, and cooling of iceberg topped with karara khakra tasted too good.

12" Hoodlum thin crust pizza made its way. And again, one of the best choice for veg pizza with Black Olives, Grilled Onions, Bell Peppers, Zucchini, Dried Tomatoes and Mozzarella Cheese.

Grilled Aubergine, Bell Peppers, Salsa, Mint and Basil Leaves was another choice for Pizza, named Scarface. It was equally delectable.

Punjabi owners and no paneer? Haha! Well Goodfellas is here topped with Peri Peri Paneer, Bell Peppers and Cilantro. Just one word - WOW!

Non Vegetarians can hog on to La Siciliane, chicken and pesto or want bacon with it then The Godfather is the choice.

Quite interesting was filling in Pita pocket under Indian made foreign sandwich with Garden of Five senses. It had the goodness of greek yoghurt, freshly grounded basil and pesto, infused with iceberg lettuce and potatoes. Turned out to be an average affair. The filling lacked spices though pita was fresh.

Next was Angezan di roti or Burger. Quite interesting names, Barely Legal/Illegal, Houstan, We've got a problem, Porker Face, There's something fishy, 4th of July to name a few in Non-veg. We ordered for Veg Mexican Wave and Popeye in vegetarian. As the name suggests, the Mexican wave had the spice of salsa, creamy sour cream, with crispy vegetable patty on fresh burger bun. Tasted superb!

I'm not a huge fan of spinach but wanting to try something different, had Popeye Burger, which was not that good choice. It had wilted spinach, grilled cottage cheese and bell peppers. Some more add-ons of spices would have made it a delight!

We ended up on a sweeter note with Blueberry and Chocolate waffles. Hot, crunchy, waffles with blueberry compote drizzled with chocolates sauce was a treat. Loved it!
Overall a wonderful experience. Might visit someday for a quick breakfast. Do share your thoughts, views and stories in the comment below.
