Playboy Beer Garden, Balewadi – Eat, Drink, Repeat

Playboy India launched one of its first Playboy Beergarden in the world in Pune which is a fabulous amalgamation of entertainment, food, music, ambience and freshly brewed beer. Located in the Balewadi high street, below are the highlights of the place..

We had an array of dishes on the menu. Extensive variety of cocktails and mocktails were ready to be served. Starting with chilled Orgy - nice concoction of Orange, bit of guava and dash of lychee, very refreshing for the summer evenings!

Fresh juice lovers can opt for Wake Me Up, a mocktail to wake you up and get going with interesting combo of Fresh Watermelon, mint, shaken with orange and apple juice.

Apple Juice muddled with raspberry and blackberry puree, yoghurt and vanilla sugar is a great choice for thick smoothie named Very Berry Smoothie itself is filling .

6 Shot Platter was a real magic and a scene of genie coming out of the jar was recreated. 6 shots of Brain Freeze, a nice combination of Tequila, Blue Curacao and Lime Juice was interesting to watch and drink with friends. Another option was Deep Down with Tequila, Passion Fruit, Sweet and Sour mixed.

Amuse bouche (single bite sized portions) had Watermelon Feta cups which had a roundlet of watermelon skewered with crumbled feta, basil placed over reduced balsamic sauce.

Appetizers started with Roasted Balsamic beetroot salad with crumbled feta, candied walnut and rocket lettuce was a healthy kickstart to the most amazing menu. Health quotient went high with crunch of walnut, creaminess of feta along with lettuce.

Baby Patatasbravas scooped and filled with its mash, beetroot and topped with garlic aioli were presented beautifully.

Bean and Chevre Crostini had creamy, tangy and crunchy kidney beans on garlic crostini. Flavours needed enhancement on the terms of spices.

Cottage Cheese chunks marinated in yogurt, mint, coriander and green chilli cooked in clay pot was smoked and grilled to perfection with tangy and spicy flavours bursting in one's mouth.

Tres Mushroom slider were cute looking platter with powerpacked flavours of vinegar and mushroom patty.

Pizzas, Risotto, Moussaka, Penne, Thai curry and more was on the menu for the main course. We started wuth Cagliari thin crust pizza topped with vine ripened tomatoes, coarse pesto, wilted spinach, feta, red onion and dash of elephant garlic. One slice of pizza and burst of all the different flavours with first bite. Recommended!

Penne with smoked cherry tomato sauce finished with parmesan cheese was delectable. The garlic bread with penne and overall dish was looking like bunny face of playboy.

Braised tofu clay pot was nice crunchy deep fried dish and tossed in black bean sauce with chilli and mushroom. It could have worked well in starters also.
Ah that rich, creamy, gooey Arborio Risotto with parmesan, asparagus finished with champagne was a delight. One of the best dishes we had that evening.

Veg Thai green curry had rich, creamy texture and aroma of coconut milk and spices were balanced nicely. Well combined with aromatic rice. So delicious to eat without rice as well.

Best part of the meal is always dessert. Its mango season and no dessert is complete without it. So we had Oh So sinful Mango Cheese Cake with mango chunks topped on cheesecake for the extra mangolicious taste. Totally drenched in mango; the cheesecake was to die for.

Dessert and cricket!? Yes...A classic English dessert served at Eton collage annual cricket match had meringue, fruit puree and cream was served with the name Mixed Berry Eton Mess. Average taste.

Winner of the dessert was Banoffee Pie. Never had such delicious pie in recent times. Golden brulee bananas with sticky toffee and chocolate curls to decorate the plate. Highly recommended. Gorge over it again and again to satisfy your taste buds.
