Indigo Delicatessen – A Gourmet Hub — Reviewed!

"A place where you can pick anything with your eyes closed - and you will be happy!"

Indigo Delicatessen, the venture of deGustibus Hospitality Pvt Ltd is a decade old baby and spreading its wings from Powai to Gurgaon and now in Pune at Phoenix Market City. It is known mainly for its scrumptious comfort food, innovative beverages and friendly hospitality, with newly added dimension of a lively bar with weekend live entertainment.

Located on the third floor, Indigo Deli, has a sense of place. A place where one can come for good food, stunning interiors and fine selection of drinks. The chic European 92-seater restaurant has show kitchen, open seating plans with comfortable sofas, wooden geometric patterns, shelves showcasing books and the in-house products like jams, marmalade. The place is famous for the much-loved selection of sandwiches, salads, pastas, light meals, and such; a wide range of delish desserts; a bevy of beverages and a daily changing, 'specials' menu. Bit higher on the price-wise but the quality and taste is unbeatable.

Some of the legendary dishes to try are...
  • Grilled BBQ Pork Ribs,
  • Risotto of Wild Mushrooms
  • Crispy Chicken Burger
  • Rueben Sandwich
  • Focaccia Bread
  • Homemade Ice-creams
  • Roast Chicken
  • Cornmeal Bread
  • Eggs Benedict
  • Thin crust pizzas
  • Crème Brulee
  • Molten Chocolate Cake
I visited the restaurant to try some of their specialities, also got a chance to interact with Chef Jaydeep Mukherjee, corporate executive chef. I tried some freshly baked Focaccia Bread and trust me, that was the "BEST" bread, I had in my life. So airy, light, fluffy and flavourful with onions. One can not resist on the bread basket placed in front. Just munch like that only!

I started with the mocktails...
Raspberry Cranberry Lime Iced Tea
Kiwi Lemonade.

Both had distinctive flavour with freshness of mint, lemon as common in both. Loved the Raspberry one more though because of the berry loads.

Soup was served in a "Masterchef style". Braised Carrot & Orange with Candied Ginger plated and then soup poured in. Velvety, creamy just perfect for an impressive dinner starter. Slight tartness of orange and dash of ginger added flavours. Such a balanced taste!

Veg Salad with grilled vegetables like heart of palm, salad greens, spiced walnut brittle and honey mustard dressing. Lip-smacking it was! Crunch of walnuts, freshness of green and infusion of dressing enhanced the taste.

Risotto of wild mushrooms and red wine is a classic style and it presses all the right buttons. First bite leaves a subtle earthiness and the creamy texture was just too good.

Sandwiches can never go wrong! They are love. And when Seared Mushrooms and Garlic Potatoes with brie and Caramelized Onions, on crusty French Bread was served, it made my belief more strong. So appetizing it looked. Light sweetness of caramalised onions, taste of mushrooms and hint of garlic on perfectly baked french bread made a great combo. Scrumptious!

Indigo Deli has thin crust pizzas as signatures and no wonder they are a hit! I tried 3 Smoked Peppers And 3 Cheese thin crust pizza. Colorful yet intact taste of red, yellow, bhavnagari peppers and right amount of Cheddar, Scamorza and fresh dollops of mozzarella pizza. Just perfect!

Crisp cookie crust topped with silky pudding, sliced banana with caramel sauce drizzled over it..Oh yum! The Banana and Caramel Pie was to die for. Loved every bit of it. Plum & Almond Tart is the heavenly combination. Tangy plums, melt-in-mouth almond filling with shortbread as crust made it so gorgeous. A must have!

Not to forget their homemade ice-creams. Had the shots of each of the following...Salted Caramel
  • Blueberry & Mint
  • Belgian chocolate
  • Pecan Butter
  • Strawberry cheesecake
  • Bailey's
  • Nilgiri Vanilla
Difficult to choose a favourite as all of them were incredibly delicious. However, Salted Caramel, Belgian Chocolate and Nilgiri Vanilla are classic decadent. Pecan Butter was nourishing and the after taste was soothing. People go and pick your favourite.
