Malaka Spice, Baner - Winter Menu — Reviewed!

Winters are the extended holiday food coma. You just can't resist the lure of eating fancy food and you eat so much. Cold weather cravings come in the form of eating more carbs and fats, in order to save the energy. So, to satisfy those cold month cravings, Malaka Spice has come up with the winter menu which will have all the comforting dishes you need, though primarily focusing on Dumplings, Ramen Noodles and Meat. What can be more comforting than a hot bowl of ramens and piping hot dumplings.

Recently, I was there for the winter menu tasting at the Baner outlet. Following is what we were offered from the menu.

Dumplings :
Quail Dumplings
Crab Rangoon Dumplings
Shrimp, Red Pumpkin and Asian Chives Dumplings
Chicken and Prawn Suimai
Exotic Vegetables and Corn Dumplings
Roasted Cashews and Vegetable Dumplings

Ramen Noodles :
Ramenritto
Spicy Korean Kimchi Ramen
Winter Chicken Ramen
Slow Cooked Thai Chicken Ramen
Spicy Sriracha Shrimp Ramen
Vegan Ramen
Farmers’ Veg Ramen

Poultry:

Thai Roasted Country Chicken
Grilled Quail
Vietnamese Roasted Leg of Duck in Spicy Orange Sauce

Dessert:
Guava Cheese Cake
Orange - Apricot Delight Cake

Wide range of delicacies to choose from. Being a vegetarian, I tried the veg fare and started with Exotic Vegetables and Corn Dumplings. The translucent coating with the filling of crushed corns and beans, carrots were well steamed. It was served with chilli sauce and it was just too good! I wish they could add more of crushed corns to do justice to the name.

Roasted Cashews and Vegetable Dumplings looked so beautiful. Its green color was quite attractive. Hot dumplings with sesame soya sauce were a true bliss!

Next was Ramenritto, as the name implies, it was a fusion attempt of Ramen and Burrito. Slightly thick wrap filled with noodles was a nice idea. Very filling.

Veg bowl of Ramen as Farmers’ Veg Ramen had all the goodness of fresh veggies like cherry tomatoes, aubergines, mushrooms, thick broth and to top it had the sweet potato fries. Broth was nicely boiled and prepared in the way it should be.

I am yet to try the desserts. But I am sure, they are too at par with the other dishes on the menu. Friends, pick your favourite bowl of hot, comforting Ramen bowl and warm dumplings from Malaka Spice to enjoy your winters. Enjoy!
