Slice of Soul – Customised Pizzas and Pasta on your plate! — Reviewed!

Bored of conventional pizzas and pasta? Want to replace pineapples with spicy olives or mozzarella with cheddar or original dough to herb dough? You got the power! Yes, the dream of having pizzas and pasta with your choice of crust, sauces, toppings, cheese is fulfilled by the Kalyani Nagar based pizzeria – Slice of Soul. Ankit Grover, the face behind the SOS concept, started the brand in January 2017. The concept of making your own pizzas and pasta has added a freshness to the recent dining scenes in Pune.

Location: The place is located in the Fortaleza complex, on the main roads of Kalyani Nagar. Sufficient parking space is available for cars and bikes.
Ambience: Small, vibrant place with the Yellow doors, choice of blue and orange furniture, open kitchen to see your pizza in the making, wood-fired oven, wooden serving trays on the walls, periodic table of toppings, rustic roof gives a casual feel to the pizzeria. Fun part is they have put bubble sheet on each to pop them until you wait for your food! Hehe!
Menu: The menu is simple with choices of starters, salads, pasta and signature pizzas. Some of the dishes to try are garlic bread, herb-crusted pizza, Aglio olio, pannacotta to name a few. The sauces, dough are all in-house made. The plan is to expand the menu by introducing some interesting starters and pizzas. The standard size pizza served is 12". I tried the following dishes from the menu...
  • Berry Cola
  • Ice Tea
  • Cheese Garlic Bread (Rs.135)
  • Half and Half Make your own pizza (Rs.445)
  • Pink Penne (Rs.265)
  • Smore's Pie (Rs.65)
Berry Cola was the nice concoction of classic cola with berry syrup and on the other hand Peach Ice Tea was a bit sweet however went well with the meal.
A small loaf of garlic bread was freshly made in front of us. It had herbs, cheese and loads of garlic. Nicely baked bread was not at all dry. I wish it had more of butter (I loveee it, personally).
It was fun watching pizza-making right in front of us. Following are the choices available...

I wanted to have all the sauces so ordered half and the half on the herbed dough. So, cut long story short...here is my choice of pizza...
  • Herbed Dough
  • Creamy cheese, Herbed and mix with both Marinara sauces.
  • Cheddar, Gouda and bit of Parmesan
  • Zucchini, Green olives, Paprika, Jalapenos, Bell Peppers, Onions, Sun-dried Tomatoes, and Basil.
This Pizza was the best bet for the vegetarians.Trust me this was one of the best thin crust pizzas I had in a long time. The pizza was perfectly baked and the taste of the sauce was so good, you wouldn't need any seasoning. I particularly liked the herb sauce. The creaminess of the sauce, cheese, and the loaded toppings made the pizza irresistible.
Coming on to the Pasta, I went for the Pink Penne and that too was at par with the pizza. The creamy texture of the pink sauce along with the crunch of veggies was superb. Penne was cooked nicely. Served with the two slices of garlic bread and garnished with parmesan, it is a great dish if you are too lazy to choose for yourself.
Caramel Custard looked pretty, though I was too stuffed to try it. Chocolate crazy people can also try the Nutella Pizza and Smore's Pie. The warm served Pie was more like a chocolate sandwiched in between the biscuits. Frankly, I had a different picture of the smore's pie in my mind.

Overall, it is a nice, small place to try pizzas and pasta suitable for your palate. Eat what you want and pay what you see. Yes, the prices are inclusive of the taxes. Come and explore the new concept only at Slice of Soul (SOS)...:) Enjoy some of the few shots....
