"A healthy outside starts from the inside". Rightly said. Salads and healthy food for some is "ghaas phoos" but trust me when it is rightly made nothing beats the fresh and healthy greens. I have tried health food from different brands like Salad Grills, Vigour Kart, Sante Spa to name a few and totally in love with the food they have to offer. Also, I appreciate the hard working home chef creating amazing dishes.

One of the women entrepreneurs I know is Ms. Sheetal Dalvi who heads the brand – The Green Chef. Located in Wadgaon Sheri, Pune this healthy food delivery kitchen serves almost every part in the east Pune since one and a half years. From Salads to Keto Meals to Mini Low Carb Eats the place serves nutritious food made with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced raw material. I was pretty excited with the range of menu they have. So, we tried the following...

Salads:
  • Quinoa Buckwheat salad (3.5/5)
  • Waldorf Veg Salad (4/5)
Mains (carbs+protein):
  • Tofu multigrain roll (4.5/5)
  • Dal, Daliya and Veggies (3.5/5)
Keto :
  • Keto paneer with cauliflower rice (3.5/5)
  • Grilled Tofu with Veggies (3.5/5)
Smoothies / Desserts / Sides:
  • Mix Fruits Yoghurt Smoothie (4/5)
  • Basil chia pudding (3.5/5)
  • Almond brown rice phirni (4/5)
  • Choco Nut Mousse (4/5)
  • Banana Chocolate Oats Muffin (4/5)
What I liked about The Green Chef was the ease to order and on time delivery. Coming on to the food, the super low carb Quinoa Buckwheat Salad (Rs.199) was loaded with the quinoa, veggies and tangy dressing. I was wishing it had more flavours. The crunch of croutons and freshness of pomegranate seeds enhanced the taste though.

Next from the Soulful Salads was the Waldorf Salad (Rs.179). Classic American recipe with chopped apples, celery, grapes and walnuts with mayo dressing but The Green Chef gave it a healthy twist by replacing mayo with the greek yoghurt. Bit sweet and tangy, I liked it against the Quinoa one.

If you are looking for some filling yet healthy grab to go dish, Multigrain Tofu Bhurji Roll is the right choice. The Multigrain roll dough was made with the healthy combination of wheat, jowar, ragi. The roll was stuffed with the spicy scrambled tofu and veggies. The protein pack roll was easy to digest. Loved it.

Not everyone loves Daliya. But its my favourite. The fibre rich daliya was served with the low fat and protein rich moong dal and veggies. Dal was packed in another box and had a bit more oil which could have been avoided. Veggies were sauteed to add crunch to the complete dish.

For all the people on Keto Diet, definitely go for the Keto Paneer, the curry of which was made with almond, coconut and cream. The creamy curry had superb coconut flavour. It was paired with the cauliflower rice. I was keen to try. Nicely grated cauliflower replaced the normal rice to make it a no-carb dish. It needs to be eat fresh otherwise the pungent smell of cauliflower ruins the taste.

Next was the protein packed Grilled Tofu with Veggies. Tofu was nicely sauteed and tossed with exotic veggies in soy sauce. Bit spicy, sweet and tangy dish was scrumptious.

I was stunned to see the range of guiltfree desserts they have. Smoothie, Mousse, Muffins, Phirni, Puddings...you ask it and The Green Chef have it. I loved the rich, thick, creamy and delish Mix Fruits Yoghurt Smoothie. It had nice sweet flavour. of natural honey. I wish the plastic cup it was packed in was sturdy. However, the packing was done neatly and not even a drop was spilled.

Choco Nut Mousse was one of the best guiltless desserts I had in long time. The dark chocolate taste lingers in your mouth till the end. Best part was the mousse was sweetened with the banana and topped with the nuts.

Never ever had thought of Brown Rice dessert – Almond Brown Rice Phirni. I was really amazed to eat Phirni made from brown rice, low fat milk, seasoned with cardamom and honey. Thick phirni was addictive. Loved it.

Basil and Chia Pudding was the next dessert. It was thin in consistency however the basil, chia and fruits made a delicious concoction. My mind was blown away with the Banana Chocolate Oats Muffin. Super soft, fresh and sinful muffin was best ever. Must try!

Overall, if you are looking for healthy eating with wide range of guilt-free food, you know where to order from.
