Prego - Westin – Italian Cuisine by Chef De Cuisine Eraldo Colazzo – Reviewed!

Prego is a chic Italian restaurant offering delicious Italian cuisine that is artistically presented in an innovative setting. Its charm is an open kitchen and pizza oven which adds to the liveliness where patrons can enjoy with a glass of classic wine and scrumptious food. Adding a star to The Westin will be Chef Eraldo Colazzo, new chef de cuisine at award winning restaurant Prego.

Chef Eraldo hails from Rome and has made some important contributions to the menu. He believes in keeping the authenticity, variety and freshness in the dishes. We had a brief chat with him and got to know about his passion of cooking and also about his experience across the globe. Senior and respected Chef Eraldo brings culinary proficiency in Italian cuisine and his belief that with the talented staff and location, Prego can be one of the finest Italian restaurants in Pune .

Few signature dishes like Spaghetti Sofia Loren, Bing Bang Seafood Salad, Bucatini Cacio e Pepe, Chicken Saltini Boca are likely to be introduced in the new menu. Since we were there for the pre-launch, we were highly excited to be in few privileged to sample the menu. The fixed five course menu sheet was already there on our tables.

Crispy fried zucchini with balsamic sauce was presented as amuse bouche (mouth amuser in french) . Zucchini had fragile texture and was in perfect unison with the sauce.

Salad or Insalata Itaca was served fresh with crunchy lettuce, feta, olive, onion, peppers and sundried tomatoes. Totally loved it. Chef believes in fresh herbs and spices, thus the insalata was super refreshing!
Another Salad was watermelon and mango and as mentioned Chef is keen on making dishes with seasonal availability and what could be a better choice than to start with a mango!

Penne with aubergine, basil tomato sauce and generous mozzarella was another surprise on the plate; people might find it undercooked but it was cooked the way it should be.

Another surprise element from Chef Eraldo was beautifully plated pouch shaped Burrata–Yes! Burrata (buttered in Italian), freshly made from mozzarella and cream. It had super soft texture and taste was heavenly.

Beautiful and bright coloured plate with Beetroot and Parmesan sauce risotto was our main course. Thick, creamy, cheesy, healthy, delicious it was.

Sambuca, an Italian anise-flavoured, usually colourless, liqueur scented infused with berry coulis made the lip smacking Panna Cotta.

Overall, a wonderful experience and I am sure, visit to this place would be totally a memorable one.

  3. In Italy these components is greatly fluctuated and assorted, have brought Italian cooking to what it is, a kitchen that is altogether different by essentially moving a couple of hundred miles.
