Dus Din Dilli De – The name says it all. Ten days of lip-smacking food with lively ambience and amazing people around. Old Delhi is associated with all sorts of chaat, paranthe wali gali, kebabs, creamy lassi, hot jalebis, rabris, kulchas, Naan, chholey, to name a few. Now, there is no need to go all the way to delhi to satiate your taste buds, Chef Jitendra Nakhwa has ensured to recreate the magic of Delhi streets by adding some quirky props to the place. It is with this same warmth and the sense of experiencing Delhi away from Delhi. On arrival, you can see a bicycle decked up with colorful decoration, food in earthen pots, bangles stand, kites and more which all give the feel of chawdi bazar, chandni chowk.
One can see a range of buffet spread with the dishes straight from North India - from Chhole Kulcha, Bhutte to Jalebi, it has all. You can gorge on to some chef's signature dishes, Papdi Chaat, Aloo Chaat, Aloo Curry, Biryani, and Masala Doodh.
When I was invited, being a North-Indian myself, I could easily connect with the dishes and was happy to see the justice they had done! :) My meal began with chef's special Chatpata Aalu, a wonderful wok tossed and stir fried fresh, juicy baby potatoes with subtle and differentiating flavours of the zing of the red chilly with sharpness of the tamarind chutney garnished with coriander. Highly Recommended!
Ubiquittous Chhole Kulche, one of the popular north indian street food were absolute treat. Kulchas were baked nicely and presented beautifully with medium spiced Chhole. Recommended!
My absolute favourite was Papdi Chaat, looked absolutely sensational, one of the perfect in legacy. Do not forget to try the burst in mouth flavours chaat. Highly Recommended!
Dahi Ke Kebab, another delicacy on my plate with creamy textured bite of hung yoghurt and cardamom powder was adding nice sweet flavour to it. Recommended!
Main course found its way through Dum Aalu, well cooked with some bite retained firm softness and seasoned marination in rich gravy. It had nice crunch of coriander seeds, ekdum desi style. Flavours to its best! Highly Recommended!
Dal Makhani was delicious though I wished it to be more creamy and Lacha Parantha was nice and went well with dal. Basic yet amazing combo.
Most of us all have a separate tummy for desserts and for me it applies especially to Jalebi, a common breakfast in Delhi. Be it Samosa-Jalebi, Fafda-Jalebi, sweet and savoury combination is to die for. In the buffet, I had Jalebi-Rabri, nice, crisp and wish to be warm though the weather is cold, so that can be understood. No complaints!
Kadhai Doodh was hot, thick, mild sweet and flavoured with dry fruits. It was nice to have it in monsoons when paired with jalebi! :)
Best part is menu will be rotating one and you be surprised by the value of money the buffet has to offer. Do visit and enjoy the wonderful food festival with array of delicious dishes and treat yourself with a Special Brunch on 29th July 2016.
