Tales & Spirits – Heaven for vegetarians! — Reviewed!

Tales and Spirits Bistro was on my list for a long time. This place has some vibes! Tucked in the narrow lanes parallel to Senapati Bapat Road, the all vegetarian restaurant are the favourite hangout place for families, corporates, and college crowds. Tales and Spirits, all day dining restaurant, is my favourite because of the scrumptious out of the box food menu and funky ambiance.

Valet Parking is available while two-wheelers have space to park alongside the roads. As soon as you enter, you are welcomed by the cozy bistro setting, a delightful visual of shady outdoor seating under the tree, while people can also opt for the indoors with AC. Windchimes, dream catchers, planters adorn the place and give a pleasant feeling. Blue, Pink, White, Brown are the major colors used for the furniture. Outdoor seating is favourable in the evenings though coolers are set-up to beat the heat in the noons. A small bar area is a set-up though they are not serving alcohol as of now. You can get mocktails and refreshing drinks from there.

The menu offers varied choices of food and the drinks. Right from the breakfast to hot beverages, Bar snacks, Fondue, Pasta, Pizzas, Bread, Soups, Salads, Mains, and Desserts. Also, they have special Summer Menu Drinks, which you relish with your starters or post meal. I tried my hands on the Chef's signature dishes and I was just blown away by the food.

My lunch meal started with the "Safe Sex on the Beach" mocktail (Rs.180)which had a perfect concoction of Cranberry Juice, Grape Juice, Peach, Cherry with a dash of lime juice and sugar. So, refreshing in summers. You can also try some interesting drinks like T&S Zucumber, T&S Virgin Sangria, Tornado, Sea of Love.

Appetizers were so tempting that it was difficult for me to choose what to eat and what to leave. I went with chef's recommendation and tried Jalapeno and Mozzarella Cigars (Rs.210). The cheesy, gooey croquettes with loads of mozzarella and jalapeno was deep fried to perfection. Though cheese was not stretchy much. It is served with a pink sauce which was equally delectable. It is just irresistible.

Moved on to a Main course with Broccoli and Mushroom Curried Risotto (Rs.320) and Mascarpone Cream Cheese Pizza. The risotto was given a twist and it tasted scrumptious. Arboria rice combined with slow cooked Madras curry, herbs, cheese, and broccoli. It was cheesy and the coconut flavour was just right. I can have it everytime, I am there.

Then the pizza that interests me was the Mascarpone Cream Cheese Pizza (Rs.440). Quite unusual. Cream cheese sauce, Tomato Concasse, Marinated Zucchini, Onions and Chilli Flakes made it a perfect pizza. The thin crust pizza was burst of flavors in the mouth. Just a perfect balanced pizza you look out for. A must have!

Traditional crunchy dessert, Baklava was served with butterscotch ice-cream (Rs.220). Warm flaky phyllo pastry layered with the crunch of walnuts and pistachio with honey syrup poured over it and to balance the dish was the butterscotch ice-cream. One bite of it had all the texture, flavours which made it one of the must try at Tales and Spirits.

Wanted to try something from their Summer Menu so had Alphonso Donut Shake (Rs.240). Mango all the way...Mango shakes topped with fresh Alphonso mangoes and Alphonso jam filled donut. All Mango-lovers can relish the dessert and satisfy the sweet tooth cravings. I just loved it.

Overall, a heaven for not only vegetarians but also for people who want to spend quality time and have scrumptious food. Wonderful place.
