The Sassy Spoon – All things Sassy! — Reviewed!

Mumbai's most popular and elegant restaurant – The Sassy Spoon has add on to the league of classy food places like Sante SpaSavya Rasa, Whispering Bamboo and more in Pune at Koregaon Park. The Sassy Spoon has outdoor and indoor seating space, while outdoors is preferred by most because of the pleasant weather, and stellar decor. A small patisserie, 'The Sassy Teaspoon' adorns the outdoors with some exquisite pastries, macarons, cakes, coffees and more.
The place is extraordinaire in terms of vibes. First thing that comes to the notice is a big pillar in the center with dangling mugs, in the background just in front of the entrance is a swanky bar with a pretty Volkswagen and the left corner is the staircase leading to a big book shelf. Such a charming place.

Coming on the menu, its quite varied in term of cuisines - European, Mediterranean, South East Asian and Indian. Options of scrumptious breakfast, Quirky Bar bites, innovative mains, and takeaways are available too along with some dazzling cocktails and mocktails. Chef Gautam Samel has done a great job in curating the menu. Every dish is done in a subtle manner. Vegetarians as well as Non-Vegetarians can relish some delicious selection of dishes which includes Sri Lankan spiced chicken poi, mini pulled pork poi sliders, coriander and rava crusted bombil with mango chutney, Mushroom Tortellini and the prawn pakoras to name a few.

Beverages are unique and has been given a sassy twist. Few flavours out of the league includes Kashmiri Kahwa, Bacon infused Whiskey and some traditional classic drinks like Kala Khatta or Very Berry Khatta. I opted for Very Berry Khatta and trust me the infusion of flavours just tantalized my taste buds and left me to ask for more. The delicious concoction had berries, citrus and fruit flavour. Highly Highly Recommended!

I started my dinner with a very classic yet sassy dish – the Loaded Potato Skins, which was a nice take on the famous snack Vada Pav. Loaded potato skins filled with vada filling and presented beautifully on a platter with the desi groundnut chutney. Overall the dish tasted great but somehow it didn't match my expectations.

Mushroom Fricasse was just not only a treat to eyes but a party in mouth. Small parcels of taste. It looked like a bowl with a lid. Stuffed with Brioche , tomato basil sauce and mushrooms. The crunch of bread and creaminess of mushrooms made a great combination. This sure is one of the best bar bites and goes well with the drinks.

Next order was combination of health and taste? So, ordered for Pearl Barley Salad. It had all the goodness of fruits. Added on to the barley were toasted almonds, apple, pomegranate seeds and smoked scarmoza. The beautiful looking plate was wiped off in few minutes. You can eat as much as you can without any guilt. Highly Recommended!

I could not resist but to order my favourite Mexican Nachos. Crisp Nachos with cheese, beans, herbs, tomatoes, overall a filling dish. You can chat and grab a bite! It is addictive! :)

Lasagne of creamed leeks, mushrooms and sweet potatoes and cheddar was one of the best dishes. Not to be missed. Creamy, cheesy, heavy dish. I am longing to try some unusual Pois like French Onion cheese melt or Crumbled Cottage Cheese with Sriracha Mayo and sprouts.

Came the desserts. Best part of any meal. The dessert menu curated by Rachel Goenka has all the sassy signature dishes like the dark chocolate basil fondant-an exceptional creation served with basil & pine nut ice cream with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, sassy stacks- pillows of red velvet served with a creamy cappuccino foam & raspberry caviar, caramel peanut tart- a hot & crunchy dessert served with caramel ice cream, the 7 textured hazelnut and chocolate- every dessert lover’s dream come true!

So many things to try but I settled for Sticky Toffee Pudding and I am a fan of this dessert forever. One of the best I had in recent times! Chocolate Pudding, Caramel sauce, Vanilla ice cream & Candied ginger – What else do we need to make it more sinful! So So want it more...Highly Highly Recommended!
