Icekraft –Black Ice-cream and more! — Reviewed!

Icekraft, the modern age ice-cream parlour is hitting the charts all over with their popular 'Black Ice-cream'. With branches in Mumbai, they have 3 outlets in Pune as of now. I happened to visit the FC Road one which is just near to the Venus Traders and can be easily located. I was pretty excited to visit the place and try the variety of options they had to offer. The seating area is quite small and they have upstairs seating too. The blue and white combination in interior makes it cool place. Since, they are in initial stage of settling up, service, food, cleanliness gives a lot scope of improvement. I am sure, Icekraft FC Road must have geared up for the crowd by now.
Menu: The menu has sweet and savoury options as well. Apart from customising your ice-cream, Icekraft serves you with the Salads, Fries, Corn, Waffles, Pancakes, Sandwiches and still if you are confused what to eat, go with the recommendations printed or ask over the counter. Prices are pretty moderate. Following were the dishes, I had the other day...
  • Zucchini Fries (2.5/5)
  • Sweet Potato Fries (3.5/5)
  • Crinkle Cut Fries (3.5/5)
  • Hurricane Fries (3.5/5)
  • Salad (3.5/5)
  • Red Velvet Brownie Fries (4/5)
  • Chocolate Waffle (4/5)
  • Charcoal Ice-cream Cone (4/5)
Zucchini Fries are my favourite and I love its crisp-tender crust. However, at Icekraft, the double layered crust was so very thick that it was difficult to find the zucchini. Additional flavours were used to enhance flavours.

Next was the Sweet Potato Fries which is a healthy alternative to the Potato Fries. Sprinkled with the chaat masala, they were tender from inside and crispy from out. I like them because you can get sweet and spicy taste all in one bite.

Crinkle Cut Fries are one of the popular savoury dishes at Icekraft. The deep ridges in the fries create a perfect crisp bite and is delight with a dip. I wish I could have added cheese topping to it. By the way the regular fries are priced at Rs.79 and the cheesy ones at Rs.99. Would visit again to gobble those cheesy fries!

Next fries were Hurricane. Also known as Twist Potatoes Fries, Tornado fries are especially made by cutting the potatoes in spiral form then fried to perfection and drizzled with cheese and seasoning. Kids go crazy with it. Loved though.

Chilled Pasta Salad
was necessary after all the savoury items we tried. Plenty of fresh veggies, pasta, coated with Italian-dressing was refreshing. Being a salad person, I personally loved it. It had the freshness of veggies with a touch of mayo.

Now came the signature dishes, the Red Velvet Brownie Fries. Eggless brownies dipped in red velvet batter, deep fried drizzled with hot fudge and served with cream. Perfectly moist and chewy from inside and crunchy from out, the chocolate drizzle was enhancing the taste. I loved it when served hot.

Chocolates can never disappoint. Waffle slathered with nutella and drizzled with chocolate sauce was sinful. All chocolate lovers can devour in one go. Waffle and chocolate are one of the best combo! Loved it.

And the cherry on the top was the 'Black Ice-cream' or the activated charcoal Ice-cream. It has become a rage in youths now a days. Cone batter is infused with the activated charcoal to have that dense black color and the ice-cream rolls too are made with the similar process and topped with choco-chips. It looks appealing and is fun to try once.

My expectations are really high with Icekraft and I am hoping they bring on some amazing additions to the menu. Wishing them all the luck and yes, visiting them again.
